Prepare/Enrich Marriage Preparation in Tulsa, Oklahoma

Build a strong foundation for your life together

Preparing for marriage involves more than planning a wedding. It means learning how to communicate well, navigate differences, understand one another’s needs, and approach your future as a team.

Prepare/Enrich is a research-informed relationship assessment and marriage-preparation process designed to help couples better understand their relationship. As a trained Prepare/Enrich facilitator and licensed professional counselor, I help couples turn their assessment results into honest conversations, practical skills, and a clearer vision for married life.

What Is Prepare/Enrich?

Prepare/Enrich is a personalized online assessment for engaged, dating, and married couples. Rather than offering generic advice, it identifies the particular strengths and potential areas for growth within your relationship.

The assessment explores important areas such as:

  • Communication

  • Conflict resolution

  • Personality differences

  • Financial expectations

  • Affection and intimacy

  • Family backgrounds

  • Relationship roles

  • Stress

  • Spiritual beliefs

  • Marriage expectations

  • Parenting expectations

There is no passing or failing. The purpose is not to judge your relationship or predict your future. It is to give you greater awareness and help you have important conversations before marriage.

What the Process Includes

1. Complete the assessment

Each partner completes the confidential online assessment independently. Your responses are combined into a personalized report highlighting areas of agreement, relationship strengths, and topics that may need further conversation.

2. Review your results together

We will meet to explore your results in a supportive and constructive setting. I will help you understand the report, identify recurring relationship patterns, and discuss the areas most relevant to your future marriage.

3. Practice essential relationship skills

Insight is valuable, but lasting relationships also require practical skills. Depending on your results, our sessions may include exercises addressing communication, conflict, stress, emotional connection, finances, family relationships, and shared goals.

4. Create a foundation for continued growth

You will leave with a better understanding of one another, practical tools you can continue using, and a clearer sense of the marriage you want to build together.

A Personalized and Clinically Informed Approach

Prepare/Enrich provides an excellent framework, but every couple is different. My background as a licensed professional counselor allows me to look beyond assessment scores and help you understand the deeper emotional patterns influencing your relationship.

Our work may include:

  • Recognizing unhelpful communication cycles

  • Understanding emotional triggers and protective reactions

  • Discussing difficult topics with greater honesty and safety

  • Developing healthier ways to manage disagreement

  • Strengthening empathy and emotional connection

  • Clarifying shared values and expectations

  • Identifying habits that support a lasting marriage

The goal is not to eliminate every difference. It is to help you approach those differences with maturity, curiosity, and mutual respect.

Catholic Marriage Preparation

For Catholic couples, Prepare/Enrich offers a Catholic version of the assessment that includes questions related to faith, prayer, participation in the life of the Church, family planning, and raising children.

When desired, I can approach the process through a Catholic understanding of marriage as a lifelong covenant and sacrament. This provides space to discuss not only how you will live together, but also the spiritual meaning and vocation of your marriage.

Prepare/Enrich facilitation may complement your parish or diocesan marriage-preparation requirements. Because requirements vary, couples should confirm with their parish whether this process will be accepted as part of their formal preparation.

Couples who are not Catholic, or who come from different religious backgrounds, are also warmly welcomed. The process will be adapted to your beliefs, values, and circumstances.

Who Is This For?

Prepare/Enrich may be helpful for couples who:

  • Are engaged or seriously considering marriage

  • Want structured, meaningful preparation before their wedding

  • Want to communicate more effectively

  • Have different personalities, family backgrounds, or expectations

  • Want to address recurring disagreements before marriage

  • Are navigating an interfaith or intercultural relationship

  • Want to explore the role of faith in their marriage

  • Are already married and want to strengthen their relationship

You do not need to be experiencing serious relationship problems to benefit. Many healthy couples use Prepare/Enrich proactively because they want to begin marriage with greater understanding and stronger skills.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many sessions will we need?

Most couples complete the process in approximately four to eight sessions. The exact number depends on your assessment results, goals, and any parish or marriage-preparation requirements.

Is Prepare/Enrich couples therapy?

Prepare/Enrich is primarily an assessment, feedback, and relationship-education process. If deeper concerns emerge, we can discuss whether couples counseling or another form of support would be appropriate.

Can we fail the assessment?

No. Prepare/Enrich is not a test of whether you should get married. It is designed to increase awareness, highlight strengths, and identify areas where further conversation and skill-building may be helpful.

Can married couples use it?

Yes. Prepare/Enrich can also help newly married and long-married couples understand their relationship patterns, reconnect, and work intentionally on areas of growth.

Can we participate online?

Telehealth sessions are available online to couples located in Oklahoma who are outside the Tulsa area.

Begin Your Marriage with Intention

A strong marriage is not built by finding someone with whom you never disagree. It is built by learning how to listen, repair, grow, and remain connected through the inevitable challenges of life.

Prepare/Enrich can help you begin that work before the wedding and carry it into the years ahead.
